People are surrounded by their objects - whether they are useful, decorative, beautiful, ugly, common or rare. We can't help but leave clues everywhere as to our identity. Clues about our culture, national identity, political ideology & religious affiliations. Our objects reflect who we really are and who we want to be. They become complex bundles of social and cultural meaning grafted onto something that can be seen, touched & owned. I have always been intrigued by this relationship between Objects & Subjects and their stories and how we really are somehow branding ourselves through these objects in our houses. THE INSIDEOUT MAGAZINE HOME OF THE YEAR AWARD 2016 EXPERIENCE

A couple of months back I got a call from InsideOut Magazine telling me I've been selected to be on their panel of judges of their Home of the Year 2016 award! Ofcourse I was delighted and said yes right away as I love seeing the beautiful interiors from UAE homes and how both expats and locals bring together a melange of tastes into their homes in this cosmopolitan country. Ofcourse a lot of the hard work was carried out by the magazine team itself led by Sharon Parsons the magazine editor where they screened all the entries until they got the six finalists. We were then invited for a very nice lunch at La Cantine Du Faubourg, the French cuisine restaurant with its multisensory experience.

So you must be curious how the house of a designer and a Film Director actually looks like? A house that also has two young kids!! Curiosity aside, I present to you our home... our sanctuary. As you come into the house you are welcomed by a lot of light! I have magnified that effect using a huge mirror and console which we bought years ago from home centre. The mirrors not only reflect the light nicely but allow for constant update without limiting us in colors and style. I simply layered it with stacks of books, a couple of candles, fresh orchids and glass vases that were filled with lemons (fake ones of course!). You can read more about how I styled here.
