DESIGN FILES :: SILVER & LIGHT

Earlier this year, we were approached by a lovely couple who have just purchased a new property and were eager to do some renovations and completely furnish it from scratch. Leaving behind all their furniture and starting fresh.

The brief was to use minimal color and keep the freshness of the space. Elegant yet easy to live in. And we wanted this consistency throughout the house.

Unfortunately due to delays from the developer, there were endless delays. The kitchen took the longest to get in and install and we couldn't get the furniture in until demolition and renovation was done, otherwise everything is going to get in the way and will be dusty and dirty! Long story short, our clients finally received their apartment, but we had already agreed on the mood boards and the furniture pieces which makes the entire process a whole lot easier and quicker. It was a matter of sourcing the finishing touches and awaiting deliveries and orders.

The entire color scheme was various shades of grey interrupted with a deep navy and live greens. We also used alot silver and mirrors to flood the entire space with bouncing light.

As you enter you are welcomed by our favorite artists work, Racha El Abbas Ayat Al Kursi, customized to the space colors with silver leaf dots. The living / dining space is a vast space, so we divided it by splitting the area into two, the main sofa was placed in the middle of the room and we placed an indigo living console behind it to ground and designate the areas accordingly.

We opted for a light grey Bernhardt set from Interiors furniture and added contrasting custom made navy blue cushions to it to compliment the two navy blue arm chairs we sourced from 2XL. The feature of the room was the custom made TV unit, designed with simple geometric lines kept to a minimal with a few shelves and drawers to house all the electronics within it.

For the side tables we kept them mismatched with a pair of round nesting tables and matching square designed one both from Indigo living. Luckily the Coffee table was in the same design but from The One.

For accessories we used some of the items our client already owned like bohemia crystals and added a few more elements of color like flowers, Agate stones and game of XO. The gorgeous carpet also in a light shade of grey, was from Carpet Centre.

On the dining room part of the space, we also opted for a grey hued finished Bernhardt 8 seater table from Aati and a matching side board both of exquisite quality, finish and design, guaranteed to have one asking about them! The pieces were so unique we only had to add a lovely paneled mirror from Pan emirates, some unique glass vases and two silver candle holders to complete the look. The matching console next to it was styled with some faux flower vases and Michael Aram frames filled with family pictures to personalize the home. The open kitchen was renovated *you will read about it in a feature in a magazine very soon, but our favorite addition to it is the sandblasted glass panel we closed the opening with. Not only did it keep the kitchen lit with natural light from the outside, but it looked pretty and kept the cooking smells and noise away from the entire space.

We didn't add any curtains, but opted for a beautifully patterned sheer instead, to keep the space light and breezy. As for the ceiling lights, we kept them all in silver finish LED lighting that looks like its a stream of rain. The finishing addition to the space was a tryptic painting that added a splash of color to the entire space.

Moving inside, The entire room was treated with a beautiful grey and silver speckled wallpaper that just added that extra warmth and oomph to the bedroom. The Meroe bed was custom made with an off-white velvet fabric that contrasted nicely against the wallpaper. We also added a bench with storage to the bed end - perfect for sitting on while wearing your shoes, or even laying your next day outfit!

For side tables, the One had the perfect wooden with dusty silver finish ones with deep drawers for storing everyday items. These were complimented with Aura living brass & Perplex table lamps. little vases of lavender were the final touches there.

Opposite to the bed, we added a chest of drawers that now holds our clients in-room Television, making it feel even more like a plush hotel room. For the soft furnishings, we added our Harf Noon Design Studio Carpet from Carpet Centre in its geometric lines in Silver color. Its worthy to mention that the entire bedroom was designed around the window seat our client had long wished for.

Designing it with extra storage in mind with two cabinets and drawers under for all the bed linen and blankets.Whereas the window treatments custom made were dark grey silk and the linen sourced from Aati, Zara Home & Robinsons.

Again the entire room was very light and was kept spacious by keeping it as minimal as possible. The icing on the cake, the gorgeous Ceiling lamp with its brushed brass and glass detail on the bottom, adding a nice contrast to the entire room.

We know that if it were us, we would never leave that serene house overlooking the gorgeous waters of the Palm Jumeirah!
