DESIGN FILES :: SOPHISTICATED ISLAND LIVING

The best compliment we receive is when we know a new client through a recommendation of another client - word of mouth is the best marketing you can ever get! Now that aside, we are so thrilled to be sharing with you yet another Palm Jumeirah Villa Project. Our client had just relocated from their Abu Dhabi Apartment to the Palm. They managed to buy the main items like the sofas and kept the dining room table they had. However everything else had to go or get replaced. Their style was very Italian in their preference for slick clean design and our mission was to complete that look but add a bit of warmth to the place. (scroll to the end of the blog post for some before pictures).

The villa has a vast entrance that leads into a double height ceiling living room with a dining room attached to it. It also has a breakfast area which overlooks a central logia and a family room which opens up directly to the beach. As you come in you are now welcomed by an architecturally balanced wooden grey washed side board and blue toned Harf Noon Carpet from Carpet Centre. We kept it simple by dressing it with two bubble side lamps and aqua hued glass vases. The simplicity is kept with two large floor vases we styled with faux pussy willow branches. Get this look//Entrance

First area to be tackled was the main living room. The grey Roches Bobois set was on point. We accented it with a beautiful off white blue and yellow striped carpet for minimal color addition and added beautifully designed throw pillows by Fornasetti & Missoni Home that grab your attention from far.

The choice for roundish coffee tables was a conscious one to cover a large area and to break the rigidity of the rectangular sofas.

The custom made curtains in light grey with strains of yellow keep it consistent with the color palette. A few simple shaped accessories in gold and silver juxtaposed against the dark wood table give it that extra oomph of elegance.

2 metallic art panels dressed the walls on both sides of the arch and their brass details again reiterated the metals on the accessories and lamps - and don't we just love getting into the smallest details t

In the Dining Room, we switched the upholstered chairs for new ones that have metallic structured shape in dark grey to sustain any food mishaps!

We also added a beautiful stone like tiered chandlier and a white wooden cabinet that can cater for all the dishes and cutlery that needs to be stowed away when not in use. We also gave the walls a fresh coat of paint in a nutty grey wash to soften the space and added a pair of multifaceted mirrors for architectural interest.

Moving on to the Breakfast area, our work here totally relied on the toned down yellow walls by Jotun Paints and the dressing up of what our client already owned. We did this by adding several throw cushions in shades of black and white playing with their textures. Adding a large vase with faux flowers and a bowl of lemons as well as overhead green glass lighting. A striped blue rug was also added to balance out the yellows and blacks.

The splash of yellow continues into the family room where we splattered the accessories with some mellow yellow and loaded with blue - first and foremost with the blue back wall that picked up the hues from the cushions and again matched beautifully with the outside sea blue.

We added another striped rug in this space too and a pair of rounded glass and metal coffee table accessorized with coffee table books, some scented candles and a hand made vase with specs of blue.

Another pair of side tables in wood and marble block were added and a wooden carved mid century lamp framed the window. The final touch was a modern art painting that captured all those colors onto one canvas and the structural looking oversized ceiling lamp

The pictures speak far more than the words and our clients feedback goes beyond that! In her words 'I know spend time in my house where before I used to be out all the time - you have made our house a true home and for that we thank you loads'.

You must be wondering what the space looked like before??

Where here you go!
