RAMADAN TABLES WITH A FLAIR

With Ramadan upon us comes sumptuous iftars with family and friends and what better than having them at your home and styling your iftar table so it looks its best?

Last week I held a workshop with indigo living at their flagship store on sheikh zayed road and showed 25 influencers and bloggers how to set up a beautiful tablescape with simple ideas and items they might already own.

SETUP 1

The first setup was very elegant using golds, silvers and textures mixed with black. Styled with silver metal vases and candle holders in black and gold. The plates were mixed and matched using polka dotted and lined tableware and finishing it off with a simple brown feather within the napkin ring and a printed "Ahlan Wa Sahlan" card for a personal touch. A tiered cupcake stand makes a nice alternative for a bowl to put nuts, dried fruits and dates in them too without taking to much space on the table.

SETUP 2

The second setup was based on bringing the garden in, especially that we can no longer sit outside with Dubai's soaring summer temperatures. Using coloured plates of green and blue and mismatching place matts plus arrangements of flowers and glass candle holders we achieved a colourful look finished with a bee napkin holder of the same theme.

SETUP 3

In this setup we wanted the laid back coastal vibe, so we kept the table bare with no tablecloth, to show the wonderful wooden table finish. The plates were kept monochrome in shades of white and navy while the placemats were in the same shade of navy in blue. We styled with two large vases in white with white flowers and two big hexagonal lanterns. The finishing touch, a napkin tied with a leather string and a rosemary and olive tree leaves, a printed Duaa, and a fresh lemon to pop up all the colours.
